Tilterweira
Tilterweira Station is owned and
managed by SSAA (NSW) Inc. It is located near Wanaaring in NSW. This
32,000 hectare property features good numbers of
feral goats and pigs and provides hunting
opportunities for H&C participants.
Tilterweira Station was not formally settled until
the late 1800s. Up to that time it was visited by
shepherds to graze flocks of sheep. At the southern
end of the main Paroo waterhole can be found
evidence of early white settlement in the form of
the scattered stones from remnants of a hut
fireplace. Several mortised posts also still stand
from the perimeter fence. To protect the location,
this area has been included in the property plan as
a significant site. Guests are welcome to visit when
the manager has the area open for general walking.
A wide range of activities are available,
including
Hunting, Bushwalking, Bird Watching, Boating
and Fishing. The local wildlife is worth
investigating. The property has viable populations
of Blue Bonnet and Mulga Parrot, two species that
are listed
as threatened.
Tilterweira Station takes bookings from SSAA
members wishing to hunt on the property.
The number of hunters and other visitors
permitted on Tilterweira Station at any one time is
strictly controlled.
All
visitors must contact the SSAA NSW State Office to
book before visiting
the property.
Bookings require a minimum deposit of 50%, with
the final payment required prior to the visit.
The Station has a licenced firearms range for
shotgun, rifle and target pistol shooting.
Visitors will find the Paroo River provides
excellent Cray fishing and photographers can enjoy
the early morning scenery and crimson sunsets.
